Well, that's what we're here to explore together. Salted Brew started with the idea of talking about anything and everything. A mix of topics. A brew. With some sass and a whole lot of grit, let's learn together how faith blends into our lives and changes everything.
Salted Brew’s story starts with my divorce in 2014. I remain vague on the details there because ultimately, that’s not the story.
One of the biggie tools for my healing and growth involves my passion for bible journaling. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with a few companies and designers along the way to create bible journaling tools and kits that dig in to Scripture. Bible journaling and blogging allows me to design digital goodies, think out loud, and share my faith with other women all over the world.
A set of verses always stood out to me:
“You are the salt of the earth…You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
I felt like the world only saw my baby face and ran with some ugly assumptions. I felt the weight of nasty labels: divorced. failure. quitter. mess. Through a lot of hard work and answered prayers, I grew to understand what it actually means to have faith. I learned how to see God’s hand in everything, even a broken mess of a story like mine. As I moved forward, I started this blog and hoped to just be transparent with my struggles and encourage others with my thunks on life.
A lot of things have changed since 2014 and I’ve dodged more curveballs and heartache since then, but one thing remains the same: my story is about healing and transformation that is only possible from God.
matthew 5:13-16
To me, that means being transparent with struggles, making faith real and applicable, and having fun along the way. Let’s talk about anything and everything here! I am so glad that you’re here and can’t wait to share this journey to live as salt of the earth.
I’m a graphic designer, journaler, blogger, and storyteller with a big heart for people. After my full-time job, I come home each day to dream and scheme new content or products for Salted Brew. When I’m not doing #allthethings, you can find me at small group, listening to a true crime story, or trying to wear out my pup, Jethro.
My style is transparent, gritty, and a bit goofy. I don’t shy away from talking about hard things and love to get to the heart of the matter.
These two are my fur babies. Jethro is a mini Australian Shepherd who almost has as much sass as me. While I live with friends temporarily, Jethro lives with my family and gets spoiled rotten. His latest quirk? He requires broth in his dog food. He refuses to eat without it and leads us to the fridge to get it every meal.
Loki is the family cat and is a big boi. He is quick to remind you when it's bedtime as he loves his routine of getting brushed out every night. He hates seeing the bottom of his food bowl and likes very few people. One of my favorite things is his little nose. His nose and toe beans change from pale pink to a rosy pink like a mood ring.
People say you don't choose cats, cats choose you. While I live with friends, their cat Ripley has definitely chosen me as his human.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you see Ripley quite a bit in my stories. This cat sleeps with me most nights and tends to jump up onto my shoulder if I'm not giving him enough attention while I work. He greets me when I come home from work and loves having a bite or two of most of my food. His favorites seem to be spaghetti, salt & vinegar chips, and fries. A salty/savory guy just like me. :)
